“I believe sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smart thing to do.”

Meet our Founder: Ian Caveney

Ian founded Fractional Sustainability after over a decade at BT Group and EE, where he led award-winning environmental and social initiatives. He saw first-hand how sustainability can deliver real business value—and how often, businesses lack the time, expertise, or resource to make it happen.

Now, he’s on a mission to help businesses of all sizes to fill critical sustainability gaps with flexible, senior-level support that delivers results.

Ian’s work has been recognised at the highest levels. He led BT’s Green Tech Innovation Programme, which won an award at COP26, and spearheaded EE’s Techy Tea Parties, which earned a prestigious Business in the Community (BITC) award. He has collaborated with leading experts across the sector and brings a deep understanding of both strategy and on-the-ground delivery.

He is a qualified Carbon Literacy trainer, a graduate of the Prince of Wales Business Sustainability Programme at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and has chaired the Scope 3 working group for the Government Digital Sustainability Alliance.

“I believe sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smart thing to do. A sustainable business is better positioned to succeed today, tomorrow, and long into the future—for its owners, employees, customers, and the planet.”

Profit with Purpose

Commercial success and sustainability go hand in hand

Every business needs to make a profit and keep its people productive. That’s a given.

But long-term success also means staying ahead of external pressures—from climate change and shifting customer expectations to evolving supply chain risks and regulatory demands.

The challenge? Many businesses want to take action but don’t know where to start. Sustainability can feel technical, complex, and disconnected from day-to-day priorities.

That’s where Profit with Purpose comes in. It’s about building a business that not only performs today but is resilient and relevant tomorrow—by aligning strong commercial outcomes with a clear, practical environmental and social strategy.

It’s also about understanding your place in the community. Today’s customers are tomorrow’s employees. Local credibility, reputation, and trust matter—and they’re shaped by how your business shows up in the world.

Profit and purpose aren’t opposites. They’re allies. Let’s build both.
